Join us for our January Sound Event at James River Yoga Studio!

Do you find yourself running after things that do not serve you? Are you too busy and in need of relaxation? Over stimulated or overwhelmed by duties & responsibilities? Angry, hurt or confused? Join us in a space where you can receive self-care and natural vibrations of healing power.

A Sound Bath is a full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle yet powerful therapeutic and restorative processes to nurture the mind and body. The experience begins with guided focus on the breath, called pranayama, a practice of becoming aware of our breath and using it to enhance our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Using our breath invites us to expand our life-force energy and improve communication between all parts of our mind-body system in preparation for meditation and the sound bath. Following the breathing practice, we will move into a guided meditation practice to put us in touch with the subtler, more expanded aspects of our nature and expand our states of awareness. The sessions may also include mindful, healing touch and tuning forks. The remainder of the experience is the sound bath, filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of instruments including singing bowls, chimes, Native American drums, rattles, and nature sounds. When you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening, you allow your brain waves to slow, shifting from a more active state to a more relaxed state, or even a dreamlike state. The sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation, and explore self-inquiry and self-discovery. Afterward, participants are welcome to stay and take time for reflective journaling, enjoy tea and socializing. An email will be sent prior to the event with more details.

This event is for ages 16+ when accompanied by an adult
